2017 Resolutions – Goals

I am one of those persons that really doesn’t like using the word “resolution”. There is something about that word that sounds too rigid and impersonal. I much prefer the word “Goal”. I find it to be a lot more inspiring, it’s is something that I am aiming for, striving for. For me it’s not only about the end result, it’s about the journey. Yeah, yeah I know, it’s very cliché… but it is so true!

Getting there is awesome, but how you got there is as important. For me, the end of 2016 brought a lot of changes. I started the slow process of changing my lifestyle. There is still a lot of work left to do, but I am determined to keep going throughout 2017. I usually don’t like to make yearly goals, mainly because I find it impossible to achieve them. However, this year I want to make things happen. Because I want you to hold me accountable and go on this journey with me, I’ve made a little (kinda long) video sharing with you my goals for 2017. My Personal Goals

Keep up my Exercising Routine: Over the past the past couple of months, I have been pretty good about exercising consistently. I truly believe that the key to being consistent is to find a physical activity that you enjoy. When I tried Pilates for the first time, I was in love. I can’t get enough of it. I will more than likely write more about it in a separate blog post soon. My goal for 2017 is to keep going to Pilates consistently.

Meditation: I have been giving meditation a try over the past few months, but not consistently enough. I am very interested in the whole mindfulness concept and about all the benefits it has for you. My goal in 2017 is to try to incorporate mindfulness into my daily or at least weekly routine. I currently meditate about once a week, if that, and I would like to make it a more regular exercise for me.

Eating Better: I have mentioned this before, but over the past few months I have had to make some diet changes for health reasons. In reality, it has been a blessing in disguise. I have never enjoyed cooking, but having some diet restrictions has forced me to. I have been really good about bringing my lunch to work most days. Now the goal is going to be incorporating more veggies, as my diet is quite protein and starch heavy.

 

Blog and Hobby Related Goals

Being More Consistent: I really want to work on being more consistent with my YouTube channel and with this blog. My goal is to post at least one video a week and one blog post a week. Hopefully more, but let’s start with once a week.

Being More Active on Social Media: Some of you may have noticed, but I have been a lot more active in Instagram lately. I have been loving engaging with the community and sharing little snippets of my thoughts on there. My goal for this year is to be more present on social media, particularly Instagram and Snapchat. I want to engage more with like-minded people on those channels. So if you don’t follow me already look for @tinytelescope to follow me! 😉

Vlogging More: This is related to my YouTube channel. Vlogs (video-blogs) are one of my favorite type of content to watch. I find a lot personable and genuine than other types of video. Because I want to engage more with other people online and be part of the inter-tubes community, I would like to vlog more often on my channel.

Taking More Picture: I love using my camera, or even my phone to capture moments. That is also the reason why I like Instagram so much. This year, my goal is to learn how to take better pictures. Like for many other things, the best way to get better at something is by doing more of it.

Trying Pottery: This is a very random one. I have actually been wanting to do this for years. I even looked and found various classes and workshops in my area. Unfortunately, there was always something. Whether it was my schedule not working, the class being too expensive or something else, I have never been able to actually try. So this year I am hoping that at some point I can try that.
